H2 of 2021 is here. Go and read the first two parts first, yeah?
This part of the year was a mixed bag. Cue another flat move and a few months of doing little, but on the sunny side, things did improve in wintertime with a better job and a new standalone tablet.

All done for marker practice. I was becoming aware I was lacking some tones (particularly pastel ones), and later I found most of an ancient set of alcohol markers I used way back when very briefly. Those would later help my kit out a good bit.

The pose was taken from a shopping catalogue, and the rest followed suit. Using coloured pencil after the marker for highlights and corrections was quite a good tip.

I drew Cellval a few times the day before, somehow having this idea for whatever reason. Maybe I was putting on the Slamjam mashup playlist again. Whatever, enjoy some B-ball outside of the school, but without the couple of guys who are up to no good.

I was in a kaiju mood for whatever reason, so Seiryuu the Burninator makes a comeback to fight giant Byakko. Abandon hope, all ye who reside in the background city.

Korean friends say I misspelled inarizushi – I might be, but I assumed Japanese phonetic rules. Otherwise, uh, the 80s Pelicana advertisement strikes yet again after 2018’s vapourwave adventure (IIRC that post has a turkey title).

Skeleton Wrestlers (Skeleton Warriors Cover)
24 Sep 2021. OpenMPT, UTAU (Kasane Teto).
A cover of the Skeleton Warriors song made with one thing in mind – a wrestling segment for the later JapariMania 2021 (more on that later). The use of MSGS samples was deliberate for the extra cheesiness and 90s feel. Also this is my first time using UTAU…and it’s clunky, haha. If only it had VSTi versions to more easily integrate to my setup….

Puritan Pete later became a recurring character. To quote myself after a friend asked about him:
“Pete’s some regional mascot character idea I made up over the summer during a holiday in Boston, though the original sketches haven’t been shared. As someone who had previously lived in that part of the world, I was also drawing from past experience and impressions, combined with some misadventures during the most recent trip. As for the pose, well, it’s derived from a fast food serviette design.”

I guess I had Cuphead’s shopkeeper in mind when drawing the scene, and the style somewhat reflects that.
Metal Dier 2: Solid Cellval

Some Metal Gear-inspired stuff, but nothing that had anything to do with the original material aside from stylistic influence. A good way’s work done.
JapariMania 2021 (YT link)
31 Oct 2021. Shotcut, Resolve (Skeleton Wrestlers), Cakewalk, WWE 2k19, Wrestling Empire.
More wrestling for the Kemofure community, now with KemoV’s VTubers. No, I still don’t watch VTubers at all. The addition of Wrestling Empire came after watching two friends play it with a league of Shitty Skeleton characters – I was crying too hard from laughter that night, and thus nabbed it once the PC version arrived.
I rendered these in 1440p to try and keep quality up, even though source footage was in 1080p. I think it succeeded.
Aubrey and Camille

Started playing Omori around late Nov and it was fantastic. So cue drawings of Aubrey and my own chara, Camille, who I don’t believe I’ve introduced properly yet on the site but she’s probably floating in various uploads. Then cue drawings in others’ styles to be a bit cheeky.

How did I get to this point where I mix Dhole with Zurg? I blame the Toy Story 2 game soundtrack for having a few great tracks. Game itself is rather all right too, minus one of the challenges.
It would be good to go at it again with my studio kit, but the next day, I decided to pursue a tablet deal and return to my mid-10s days of tablet drawing more.
Concordia 1630

The first drawing I did on a new tablet, namely a Tab S6 Lite. I went with Sketchbook due to lack of options on Android, as well as past familiarity with the program back when I used a Surface Pro. The program works fairly well given the hardware, whilst Krita and CSP seem a tad heavy.
Puritan Pete and Camille both made comebacks, alongside a version of Boston’s Citgo sign in Kenmore Square. I’ve come to like the device since; it’s a lot more flexible and has a much longer battery life than my old Surface Pro has, and it’s very easy to take around. So cue a lot more drawing with it since then, much to the chagrin of my graphics tablet (a Huion H610 ProV2).

Said friend was drawing a lot of other members’ OCs in streams at the time. Inspired by this, I decided to complement that by drawing others’ OCs…but in my own cheeky manner by giving them defeated expressions à la some of the Jojo games. Well, someone get them some bandages and towels, yeah? XD
That wraps up 2021, and now it’s on to this year!
